Identity > Resolution

As the calendar flips to a new year, many people often take the opportunity to make resolutions to change something, or do something, or not do something...because they believe something about themselves that guides their behavior. That's all well and good, but if all of this is based on a false identity that we have come to believe, then any resolution we make will likely fall apart. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss the importance of realizing our "kingdom identity" and listening to who (or what) God calls us to be. Once we get that implanted into our being, there's no limit to where He will take us!

God's word about our identity:
Jeremiah 29:12-13...you are heard!
2 Timothy 1:7...you have power, love, and discipline!
John 15:16...you are set apart!
Ephesians 1:7...you are forgiven!
2 Corinthians 5:17...you are redeemed!
Romans 8:37-39...you are loved!
Zephaniah 3:17...you are exulted over!

"Journey Beyond Divorce" with Karen McMahon

Statistics show that nearly half of all marriages end in divorce (and that number goes up with multiple marriages). While the Legacy Dads are firm believers in preserving the covenant of marriage, they know there are times when it just doesn't (and can't) continue to be a viable option. In this episode, the guys sat down with Karen McMahon, founder of "Journey Beyond Divorce," a team of certified life coaches specializing in relationship and divorce coaching. In the interview, Karen discusses her own high-conflict divorce and how she was able to find her faith in God through it. She also describes some of the ways in which JBD coaches their clients through the often stormy waters of a divorce. Listen in to hear how Karen is able to use her God-given skills as a counselor and coach to help others through one of the most challenging personal times in a person's life.

The Season of Giving: Use Your Gifts!!

Christmas is the season of giving. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss Dave's recent trip to support Unusual Soldiers with a training event. God equips each of us with unique gifts that can ultimately help build up His kingdom. Whether it's providing training to others, giving generously, supporting church and local ministries, playing music, leading bible study, or any number of other gifts, it's important for us to have the spirit of giving in all aspects of our lives. "And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding." Jeremiah 3:15.

Humility: Necessary for Christian Men

On the coattails of last week's episode on vulnerability, Dave and Dante get into the godly trait of humility. It's not weakness, and it's not holding your tongue. It's the opposite of selfishness and pride. And if we want to be more Christ-like, then we need to have humility in our lives. "For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and give His life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). That's the example we need to follow. Be humble!!

Vulnerability: Necessary for Christian Men

Far too often, guys are expected to fly away from vulnerability. Sometimes it is perceived as weakness; other times, as effeminate. But if men are not willing to be vulnerable and know how to work through their emotions in a healthy manner, their work for the kingdom of God could be diminished. In this episode, Dave and Dante answer a listener request to talk about vulnerability, and what it looks like for Christian men. Listen in as they discuss what it is through a biblical lens, walk through some personal testimony, and encourage listeners to consider the areas in their lives where vulnerability (and controlled emotion) needs to exist.

Deliverance From...Deliverance To

In this episode the guys discuss the importance of being delivered from the things that keep us from having a relationship with God...but also the importance of being delivered TO something that He has in store for us. Without a goal, without a destination, we are susceptible to continued struggle. But once we identify the target or goal, we can continue to use that as a way to move forward into the saving grace that God offers us through the sacrifice of His Son and through the power of the Holy Spirit. Listen in and be moved to action!
