We Needed Real Men

Eight years ago today, America was attacked for the first time since Pearl Harbor.  I remember waking up at 6:30 AM to the radio station on the West Coast just as the second plane was striking the towers.  That day was filled with grief, disbelief and Heroes.

For most of the 90's, men were told to suppress there neanderthal ways, be sensitive and dress "metro."

But on that day we needed leadership, courage and people to run towards danger while others were running away.  Men charged into the towers and Pentagon to save victims knowing that they could die.  Men decided to stand up and take back control of a hijacked aircraft. I decided to leave my six figure job and once again serve a purpose higher than myself.

Many people want to forget that day, they suppress the memories and the images.  They blame the government, the president and others for what happened rather than pointing the finger at the true culprits.

But I think we need to remember.  Remember the victims, remember how it felt, remember who is responsible and remember that on that day there were real men that answered the call of duty.

Fathers, Brothers, Sons and Friends. Heroes.

Please take a few moments out of your day today and watch this video.  Remember how it felt, remember why it happened and remember why our role as fathers has the power to stop evil or create it.
