OF WARRIORS AND FACEBOOK

This post may be less promising than you first supposed. It's two unrelated posts in one because 1) It is Memorial Weekend and 2) It's the tail end of fathers and media theme on Legacy Dad.I am a vet. Blog Boss Lance is a vet. We see ourselves as "warriors," though we don't shout it about; it's a private and deeply meaningful thing. Once a warrior, always a warrior. Many experiences, in active combat or in support, are tatooed on my mind forever. Some memories are sad and time just does not erase that. I've lost a brother and a son and I've had good comrade friends not return from a flight over enemy territory.

Would you, please, join we who have the memories in a few moments of serious reflection? They do call this Memorial Day for a reason.

I will ask of you two things. First, close your eyes for 30 seconds and recall two names of someone you know who has served, living or dead. Now, in a moment of prayer, thank God for each.

One more thing. Take a visit to Arlington Cemetary with me.  It will take a minute and a half. Bring a Kleenex. And, please, even if you're reading this after the weekend, share it with anyone in your Tweet or FB zone.

IN FACT, LET'S JUST STOP HERE.

I can post the interesting study by the American Academy of Pediatrics in a day or two. You can guess that what they say about a new syndrome, Face Book Depression, ain't so cheery.

SO LET ME ASK, LIKE YOU KNEW I WOULD: HAVE YOU THANKED GOD, SERIOUSLY, INTIMATELY, FOR  AT LEAST TWO WHO HAVE SERVED OUR NATION'S MILITARY?

EPS (Electronic Post Script): And, if YOU have served, will you accept my thanks?

Thank you, Lance, for your current sacrifices and your commitment to being the most you can be.  Honestly, I do feel safer with you doing what you are doing and the excellent way you do it. When away from your wife and two children, you are, indeed, leaving a LEGACY for them and for us. (Ok, since I took care of that, you have to find two OTHERS to thank.)
