Here is an exercise for incorporating MEALS into your daily prayer lives:
M – Meditate on God’s Word
"Heavenly Father, as I come before You, I reflect on Your Word. You say in Psalm 46:10, ‘Be still, and know that I am God.’ Lord, help me to be still in Your presence and trust in Your plans."
E – Express Gratitude
"Lord, I thank You for Your love, grace, and mercy. Thank You for waking me up today, for providing for my needs, and for surrounding me with people who care. I am grateful for the ways You guide and protect me, even when I don’t realize it."
A – Ask for Help
"Father, I bring my needs before You. I ask for wisdom in the decisions I have to make. Give me strength when I feel weak, peace when I feel anxious, and patience when I am struggling. Help me to trust You in all circumstances."
L – Lift Up Others
"Lord, I lift up my family, my friends, and those who are struggling. I pray for healing for those who are sick, comfort for those who are grieving, and guidance for those who are lost. May Your love touch each person in need today."
S – Surrender to God’s Will
"Father, I surrender my plans, my worries, and my future to You. Not my will, but Yours be done. I trust that You are working all things for my good, even when I don’t see the full picture. Lead me according to Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
When you began with humility and submission you are setting yourself up to obedience of God's Word, His Holy Spirit and the call to discipleship in life. Even before you begin to read (or listen to) God's word, start with this prayer and exercise your brain into things that honor God instead of ourselves and this world.
Blessings,
